Musinsa Standard Unveils Official Uniforms for Hangzhou Asian Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies
‘Baekui Minjok’ Concept National Team Uniform Unveiled
Musinsa Standard announced on the 8th that it will unveil the design of the South Korean national team's opening and closing ceremony uniforms ahead of the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games. The set consists of a total of eight items, including denim tops and bottoms, shoes, bags, and belts.
The concept of the national team uniforms revealed by Musinsa Standard this time was inspired by the ‘Baekui Minjok (白衣民族)’, meaning ‘the nation of white clothes’. It reinterprets the tradition of our people, who have long worn white clothes symbolizing integrity and spirit, into an ivory-colored denim setup. A notable feature is that the setup was made in a casual mood rather than formal attire to infuse young energy into the team.
The jacket’s seam lines and the embroidery on the pants’ pockets represent the ‘Paljakjibung’ (hip-and-gable roof) of traditional Korean houses. The buttons were inspired by the shape of the ‘Daebuk’, a traditional Korean drum with a Taegeuk pattern at its center. Additionally, a keyring in the shape of a traditional Korean norigae was separately produced to add a focal point to the overall outfit. The belt, shoes, and socks also feature the Taegeuk symbol and the ‘Team Korea’ logo, which stand out.
Considering the hot and humid weather in Hangzhou during the event, functional aspects were also reflected in the uniform materials. The denim setup tops and bottoms, as well as the T-shirts, use functional fabrics such as ‘Coolmax’ and ‘Askinn’, which provide contact cooling and quick-drying moisture absorption.
