The two organizations agreed to actively cooperate in creating and linking jobs for hearing- and speech-impaired individuals who completed the ‘I am also a Master of Organizing and Storage’ course, one of the lifelong learning programs for people with disabilities.
Seo-gu plans to recruit applicants who need organizing and storage consulting and residential environment improvement, such as residents and users of facilities for people with disabilities, child group homes, those wishing to leave facilities, and families expecting childbirth, and dispatch disabled individuals with specialized knowledge to the field.
Additionally, Seo-gu will open advanced courses related to organizing and storage to enhance the expertise and capabilities of people with disabilities, and has utilized fines from violations of disabled parking zones as a budget for creating jobs for people with disabilities.
Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, “When people with disabilities experience no inconvenience in daily life and feel no barriers in pursuing various dreams such as employment, the realization of a ‘Barrier-Free City Seo-gu’ is also possible.”
He added, “Starting from Seo-gu, we will implement field-centered job policies so that everyone can have equal opportunities without prejudice and discrimination, pursue their dreams, and enjoy a happy life.”
Earlier, in March, Seo-gu attracted attention by promoting the ‘Sign Language Translation Video Production Project,’ in which hearing- and speech-impaired individuals directly participate to ensure information accessibility and create jobs for people with disabilities.
