Jeonnam Province Makes All-Out Efforts to Host the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties
Operation of Promotional Booth at the Korea Climate Environment Energy Expo
Jeonnam Province has launched promotional activities to attract the 33rd United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP33) to the southern coastal region of the South Central area.
The province announced on the 7th that it will operate a promotional booth together with Gyeongnam Province and Yeosu City at the '2023 Korea Climate Environment Energy Expo' held at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.
The Korea Climate Environment Energy Expo is co-hosted by Jeonnam Province and Gwangju City, integrating the renewable energy exhibition (SWEET) and the international climate environment industry exhibition, which specializes in climate and environment.
Especially this year, it presents the future energy ecosystem and the development direction of carbon neutrality, showcasing the latest products and solutions in related industries. The event features a variety of programs covering renewable energy sectors such as solar power, wind power, and energy efficiency, as well as climate environment industries including air pollutants and resource circulation.
At the promotional booth for attracting the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, Jeonnam Province distributes promotional leaflets and materials to participating companies, institutional officials, and visitors, explaining the determination and justification for attracting the South Central southern coastal region centered on Yeosu.
In particular, a signature campaign is also being conducted to propose the prior designation of the South Central southern coastal region before the national plan approval for hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, seeking the interest and support of visitors.
Prior to this, in April, Jeonnam Province and Gyeongnam Province agreed to strengthen solidarity and cooperation on current issues such as attracting the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties to the South Central southern coastal region to realize the 'Era of Win-win and Prosperity on the Southern Coast.'
A Jeonnam Province official said, “The South Central southern coastal region centered on Yeosu is a leading area in responding to the climate crisis, and we will continue to steadily carry out activities to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and attract the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties.”
The United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties is the largest international environmental conference related to climate, where 198 parties gather annually to discuss various agendas for implementing the convention.
