Lee Bok-hyun, Financial Supervisory Service Chief, Visits Switzerland, UK, and Germany to "Support Overseas Investment Attraction"
Visiting Three Major European Countries from the 10th to 15th
Plans Include High-Level Meetings with Financial Supervisory Authorities
Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), will visit Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Germany from the 10th to the 15th to discuss support for the internationalization of Korea's financial industry and global financial supervisory issues.
Governor Lee will attend an overseas investor relations (IR) event jointly hosted by the FSS, Seoul Metropolitan Government, Busan Metropolitan City, and the financial sector in London, UK, to promote Korea as a financial hub and support financial companies in attracting overseas investment and expanding local operations. Accompanying Governor Lee on this European visit are six financial company representatives: Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group; Im Jong-ryong, Chairman of Woori Financial Group; Choi Hyun-man, Chairman of Mirae Asset Securities; Jung Young-chae, CEO of NH Investment & Securities; Park Jong-moon, President of Samsung Life Insurance; and Won Jong-gyu, CEO of Korean Reinsurance.
The plan is to promote the reliability of domestic financial regulations and supervision, as well as the stability of the financial market, to overseas investors, thereby enhancing the investment attractiveness of Korea's financial industry.
Additionally, Governor Lee will attend the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) high-level meeting to discuss global financial issues with heads of major countries' financial supervisory authorities and central bank governors. He will also participate in the newly established Heads of Supervisory Authorities (HOS) meeting to exchange views on global financial supervisory issues.
Governor Lee will hold a separate dinner meeting with Mahendra Siregar, Chairman of the Indonesia Financial Services Authority. This will be their third meeting this year. The FSS and Indonesia Financial Services Authority plan to discuss the launch of a mutual secondment program for outstanding employees and strengthening exchanges.

Furthermore, Governor Lee plans to meet with Nikhil Rathi, CEO of the UK's Financial Conduct Authority; Andreas Barckow, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board; and Ram Nayak, Global Co-Head of Deutsche Bank Investment Banking, to exchange views on major global financial issues.
