Eunpyeong-gu to Hold Monthly Cultural Festivals at Libraries
Colorful Cultural and Art Events Held Every Fourth Saturday from September to December... Hands-on Activities Including Paper Folding by Kim Young-man at Eunpyeong New Town Library on the 28th
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will designate public libraries in the area as ‘Libraries with Culture’ every fourth Saturday from this month until the end of the year, hosting various cultural and artistic events.
‘Libraries with Culture’ is an event designed to create a social atmosphere where the whole family can use the library together. All eight public libraries participate, with one representative library designated each month to hold large-scale cultural and artistic events, while the remaining seven libraries host smaller events.
At Eunpyeong New Town Library, the representative library for September, various experiential events will be held under the theme of ‘Retro.’ In the main performance zone, an ensemble performance combining sand art and gayageum will be presented. Additionally, diverse experiences such as making knot keyrings, yoyos, and mandeuki, as well as traditional play areas featuring yutnori, ttangttameokgi, and jegichagi, will be offered.
On the event day, a unique program at Eunpyeong New Town Library includes a paper folding experience with Kim Young-man, Director of the Paper Culture Foundation Lifelong Education Center. Director Kim is famous as the ‘God of Origami’ for his appearances on ‘TV Kindergarten Hana Dul Set’ and ‘My Little Television.’ The origami experience is expected to provide a special opportunity for both children and parents to immerse themselves in the world of childhood wonder.
At the other seven libraries that are not representative libraries, family programs such as birthday cake and cookie making experiences for children celebrating birthdays that month, storytelling using picture books, and puppet show viewings will be held.
Subsequent ‘Libraries with Culture’ representative library events will be held on ▲October 28 at Jeungsan Information Library ▲November 25 at Gusan-dong Library Village ▲December 16 at Eunpyeong District Library. For details on participation methods and schedules, please contact each library or refer to their websites.
