Since 2014, the Bio Association has been operating the 'Bio Workforce Development Program' with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology to cultivate specialized personnel that meet the demands of bio companies. At this recruitment fair, 120 trainees currently enrolled in the program’s courses?including the Excellent Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) course, the Biopharmaceutical Development course, and the Biochemical Development course?attended to engage in consultations and Q&A sessions regarding recruitment.

The fair was attended by eight companies from various fields, including major pharmaceutical companies Hanmi Pharm and Ilyang Pharm, contract development and analysis (CDAO) bio-pharmaceutical company Protium Science, exosome-based functional aesthetics and bio-drug development company ExoCoBio, electronic medicine medical technology research and development (R&D) specialist NewAin, cell therapy R&D specialist SCM Lifescience, AI platform-based new drug development company Aizoth Bio, and domestic messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) therapeutic developer SML Biopharm.

The recruitment fair proceeded with company introductions, presentations on recruitment plans, and Q&A sessions. Practical advice for young people preparing for employment, such as strategies for writing self-introduction letters to succeed in job hunting, was shared. Following this, the recruitment consultation session allowed free discussions between companies and trainees through a pre-arranged matching system.

Son Ji-ho, Head of Industry Support at the Bio Association, said, “Many companies are struggling with recruitment due to a shortage of skilled personnel ready to be deployed in the field,” and added, “We expect this recruitment fair to provide companies with opportunities to hire trainees who have received the necessary education for the industry.”
