Gochang-gun to Pay 600,000 Won 'Farmer Public Interest Allowance' Before Chuseok

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 6th that it will provide 600,000 KRW in farmers' public interest allowances in the form of Gochang Love Gift Certificates before the Chuseok holiday as a visiting administrative service for the convenience of residents.

The recipients are 10,734 farming households, who were finally selected through applications received from February to the end of April, verifying address and agricultural management status, non-agricultural income, and duplicate applications within a household.

The total payment amount is approximately 6.4 billion KRW, which will be completed before Chuseok to help stabilize farms that have suffered from heavy rain and heat waves this year, and is expected to revitalize the local economy by being used for holiday shopping and more.

The county has set the concentrated payment period from the 18th to the 22nd. For farmers who applied for the paper type, gift certificates will be directly distributed by visiting village halls, and for those who applied for the card type, 600,000 KRW will be automatically loaded onto their owned cards.

Since first providing the farmers' public interest allowance in Jeonbuk in 2019, the county has contributed to the nationwide spread of the public value of agriculture and rural areas. In 2020, it was expanded to all 14 cities and counties in the province, and in 2021, it included fishing households and beekeepers.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “By providing the farmers' public interest allowance early before the upcoming Chuseok holiday to maintain and spread the public value of local agriculture and rural areas, we expect this to be an opportunity to relieve the management burden of local farmers and bring new vitality to the local economy.”
