Jeju Provincial Office of Education Employee A Suspended from Position
A teacher at a high school in the Jeju area has been reported for making sexually harassing remarks during class, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Jeju Western Police Station announced on the 5th that they have booked and are investigating a male teacher in his 50s, Mr. A, at a high school in Jeju on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act.
Mr. A is suspected of making several sexual remarks during classes in March and April. He is reported to have told students, "Sex is a good thing. You should have it often," among other comments.
Students who felt uncomfortable with the teacher's remarks reportedly reported Mr. A to the police.
During the police investigation, Mr. A stated that "there was no intention to sexually harass."
The police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident.

Meanwhile, based on the resolution of the Sexual Grievance Deliberation Committee, which judged Mr. A's remarks to be inappropriate, the Jeju Provincial Office of Education has suspended Mr. A from his position.
