The "National Police Agency Chief's Martial Arts Competition" began in 2005 as a single Kendo event, and since 2019, four additional disciplines?Taekwondo, Judo, Wrestling, and Boxing?have been added. Until now, the martial arts competitions were held separately by each association for each discipline, but last year, the National Police Agency and each martial arts association agreed to hold the competitions at the same place during the same period, changing it into an integrated martial arts competition format.
In his opening remarks, National Police Agency Chief Yoon Hee-geun said, "I am confident that those selected as future police officers through this competition will become the definite protagonists in fulfilling the public safety responsibilities of protecting citizens' lives."
