Intensive Crackdown on Illegal Activities in Paldang Watershed Protection Area... September 11-22
The Gyeonggi-do Special Judicial Police for Public Welfare will intensively crack down on illegal activities within the Paldang Watershed Protection Area from the 11th to the 22nd of this month.
The main targets of the crackdown include ▲ dumping pollutants such as water pollutants and waste within the watershed protection area ▲ catching or farming shellfish and fish, and cooking activities ▲ constructing buildings or installing structures without permission ▲ changing the use of buildings without permission ▲ unauthorized alteration of farmland or forest land into parking lots or other uses ▲ operating food service businesses without reporting to the competent authority or illegally expanding business premises, among others.
Under the current 'Water Supply Act,' dumping pollutants, illegally constructing buildings, or unauthorized land alteration within the watershed protection area are punishable by imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW. Under the current 'Food Sanitation Act,' operating food service businesses without reporting or illegally expanding business premises are punishable by imprisonment of up to 3 years or a fine of up to 30 million KRW.
