Completion of Seongbuk-gu Annyeong (安寧) Family Volunteer Group Activities
Conducting Volunteer Activities in Local Areas by Categories such as Welfare, Environment, Sharing, and Animal Protection
Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) successfully operated the "Annyeong Family Volunteer Group" from April 29 to August 26, consisting of a total of six sessions for 20 families (67 people) residing in Seongbuk-gu. The group aimed to create a safe and healthy Seongbuk by focusing on themes such as family volunteer workshops, greetings, environment, sharing, animal protection, and disaster safety.
The Annyeong Family Volunteer Group plays a role in strengthening bonds among family members and expanding the base of volunteer activities in the community through family-based volunteer work.
For each session, the Annyeong Family Volunteer Group conducted volunteer activities based on one specific theme: ▲ April - Family Volunteer Workshop ▲ May - During Parents' Day week (May 1?8), writing greeting letters and delivering greeting kits to low-income elderly living alone ▲ May to June - Environment theme, plogging volunteer activities with forest interpreters at Gaeunsan and Bukhansan ▲ June - Sharing volunteer activities, a time for families to explore their future, values, and aptitudes together ▲ July - Animal protection theme, reflecting on companion animals and abandoned animals and engaging in practical activities ▲ August - Disaster safety camp, learning about disasters occurring around us and practicing how families can respond together. Finally, the family volunteer group shared their impressions of the volunteer activities, concluding the six-session program.
The Siwoo and Sia family, who participated in the volunteer activities, shared, “Participating in the Annyeong Family Volunteer Group showed us that volunteering is not difficult and that anyone, regardless of age, can easily practice it in daily life. We realized that true volunteering is not just about giving a lot. The volunteer activities, which we hesitated to join at first, became an opportunity for our family to mature. Based on what we learned from family volunteer activities, we will regularly practice love and sharing through volunteering with our children. We are grateful for the changes and new daily experiences this brought to our family.”
Mayor Lee Seung-ro, who actively supported this volunteer activity, said, “It is not easy for families to practice volunteer activities together every month, so I thank you for practicing sharing and volunteering for Seongbuk-gu. We will continue to prepare various programs that families can participate in together to create a better Seongbuk-gu where neighbors coexist.”
