Since July last year, POSCO has been using Microsoft's collaboration platform 'Teams'.
Teams, introduced to complement the existing in-house messenger used at POSCO, provides various work tools such as simultaneous document editing and data analysis, establishing itself as a new communication platform.
In this competition held on Teams, each department including operations, marketing, purchasing, and safety showcased collaboration cases within and between departments, introducing various ways to utilize Teams.
The evaluation results were based on three criteria: △Effectiveness △Sustainability △Participation rate, combined with real-time employee voting results, selecting one grand prize team, two excellence award teams, and three encouragement award teams.
The grand prize was awarded to the EIC Technology Department of Gwangyang Steelworks.
To enable rapid AI development and maintenance, they created a channel where steelworks domain experts, AI model developers, and network infrastructure experts could communicate organically. They also held Smart technology seminars and conferences inviting domestic and international companies, allowing all employees to share the status of Smart technology without spatial or temporal constraints.
The excellence awards were given to the Equipment Materials Purchasing Office and the Automotive Materials Marketing Office, respectively.
Song Young-nam, an employee of the EIC Technology Department at Gwangyang Steelworks who won the grand prize, said, "Collaborating in real-time on the platform has reduced face-to-face meeting time and lessened the burden of work reporting, enabling more efficient work. I felt that the charm of collaboration using the platform is working 'enjoyably' with team members on Teams as if on SNS, and I hope the happy collaboration virus spreads to all employees."
On the day, Shim Min-seok, head of the Digital Innovation Office, said, "Using Teams is not just about adopting the latest IT technology, but a channel that centers on employees and allows them to work happily and efficiently. The Digital Innovation Office will continuously improve any issues arising from employees’ ongoing use."
