Pukyong National University Selected for 'University Course Support Project for Solving Regional Issues'
National Pukyong National University has had two courses selected for the ‘2023 Regional Issue Resolution University Class Support Project’ organized by Busan Technopark.
In this competition, which selected a total of 10 projects, Pukyong National University had two courses chosen: ‘Nanotechnology Seminar’ by Professor Oh Pil-geon of the Department of Nano Convergence Engineering and ‘Police Investigation Theory’ by Professor Ham Hye-hyun of the Department of Police Crime Psychology.
The ‘Regional Issue Resolution University Class Support Project’ is a program that supports courses seeking solutions to regional issues in connection with university major classes. It aims to strengthen student capabilities through courses that find solutions to regional issues and lay the foundation for regional innovation.
Professor Oh Pil-geon of Pukyong National University will conduct a course to nurture convergence talents in the secondary battery field, which is gaining attention as a next-generation industry, following the selection for this project.
Through this course, the plan is to produce field-oriented talents with comprehensive capabilities in applied fields such as nanomaterials, electricity, electronics, optics, life sciences, and chemistry, thereby supporting the development of advanced regional industries.
Professor Ham Hye-hyun will conduct a course based on criminal psychology to explore the actual conditions, causes, motives, and countermeasures of ‘random crimes,’ which have recently emerged as a social issue.
The plan is to operate a joint research project involving the police, prosecution, citizens, and students to find causes from the individual and community base, including investigation research, special lectures, seminars, and campaigns.

Pukyong National University will receive 7 million KRW in project funds per course and plans to conduct the courses from September to December.
