Ministry of the Interior and Safety Conducts Hazard Inspections and Crackdowns Around Elementary Schools for Second Semester
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 30th that, in preparation for the start of the second semester, it will conduct inspections and crackdowns on hazards around elementary schools nationwide to prevent children's safety accidents. This effort will be carried out in collaboration with central government agencies such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the National Police Agency, as well as affiliated organizations, local governments across the country, and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, totaling over 700 institutions.
The inspections will be conducted from the 31st of this month until the 29th of next month, targeting more than 6,000 elementary schools nationwide. The focus will be on five areas: ▲traffic safety ▲hazardous environments ▲food safety ▲product safety ▲illegal advertisements.
Private organizations such as the Safety Culture Movement Promotion Council, Green Mothers' Association, and Outdoor Advertising Association will conduct campaigns, and through promotions using SNS, institutional websites, school newsletters, and neighborhood newsletters, guidance will be provided to actively report hazards around schools via the Safe Report app or website.

Park Myung-gyun, Director of the Life Safety Policy Division, stated, “Ensuring the safety of children is of utmost importance to protect the joyful spirits of children returning to school.” He added, “The government, together with local governments, private organizations, and local residents, will proactively identify and promptly improve factors threatening safety around elementary schools to create a safe environment where children can live with peace of mind.”
