Gyeonggi-do Supports 300 Indoor Air Purifiers for National and Public Childcare Centers
Gyeonggi Province will support the installation of air circulation devices in public and government-run daycare centers within the province.
On the 30th, Gyeonggi Province announced that by the end of September, it will support the installation of a total of 300 air circulation (purification) devices?5 units each in 60 public daycare centers?by providing 750 million KRW for installation costs as part of an indoor air quality improvement project for daycare centers in the province.
This newly launched project aims to protect the health of infants and young children, who are vulnerable to fine dust, by improving indoor air quality as indoor activities in daycare centers increase due to high concentrations of fine dust and ozone generation.
Currently, among the 1,316 public daycare centers in the province, 493 centers (37.4%) do not have ventilation facilities installed. Among these, 823 centers with a total floor area of 430㎡ or more must comply with indoor air quality maintenance standards, such as keeping fine dust levels below 100㎍/㎥, according to the 'Indoor Air Quality Control Act.'
An air circulation device is a ventilation facility installed to allow outdoor air to flow indoors through a pollutant removal device (filter) and to exhaust polluted indoor air.
Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province selected 60 centers as support targets from the 493 public daycare centers without ventilation facilities, considering factors such as aging, high enrollment rates, and surrounding environment.
Along with supporting ventilation facility installation, Gyeonggi Province will also run a maintenance cost support project for air purifiers to ensure a comfortable indoor environment in daycare centers, including private ones.
