Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Headquarters Implements Joint Pest Control for Farmers in Buk-myeon
Timely Pest and Disease Control and Farming Convenience Enhancement, 30 Million Won Support
Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power provided 30 million KRW to support joint pest control for rice farmers in Buk-myeon to reduce their operating costs.
The ‘Joint Pest Control Support for Rice Farmers in Buk-myeon’ project uses unmanned drones to spray pest control agents. It was implemented to produce high-quality rice through timely pest control and to address labor shortages caused by aging farmers.
By March of this year, pest control work was carried out twice between July and August on 153 hectares of rice paddies belonging to 265 households that applied for joint pest control.
Oh Seung-su, head of the Buk-myeon Agricultural Cooperative, said, “The satisfaction of local farmers with Hanul Headquarters’ joint pest control support project is very high,” and expressed gratitude, saying, “We are truly thankful for the generous support for joint pest control to alleviate the operating cost burden of farmers in the Buk-myeon area.”
