Yeongam-gun, Disabled and Non-Disabled Cyclists Race on F1 Circuit Track
‘Motopia Yeongam Eoullim Cycling Competition’ Successfully Concluded
Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) successfully concluded the 'Motorpia Yeongam Harmony Cycling Competition' held on the 27th at the F1 International Automobile Race Track.
According to the county on the 29th, the event was held with the purpose of fostering a regionally specialized sports tourism industry, sponsored by Yeongam-gun and Jeonnam Development Corporation, and hosted and organized by the Korea Disabled Cycling Federation.

The competition saw participation from over 200 cyclists nationwide, including those with physical, intellectual, hearing, and visual disabilities, demonstrating the popularity of this unique speed race held on the F1 automobile race track.
The athletes who lined up at the starting line at 9 a.m. took off on the Yeongam F1 International Automobile Race Track in response to the starting signal given by Governor Woo Seung-hee and the president of the Korea Disabled Cycling Federation.
The cyclists who experienced the automobile race track on bicycles unanimously praised the event. They gave high marks to the world-class facilities and the safe environment for cycling.
The races included a 22.4 km individual road race for disabled and non-disabled participants, a 12.8 km individual road race for recreational disabled athletes, and a 16 km wheelchair racing event. All categories were ranked based on the shortest time recorded.
One disabled participant said, “I will be participating in the 43rd National Disabled Sports Festival to be held soon in Jeollanam-do, and I was able to get a lot of practical training in this cycling competition,” adding, “I am leaving fully confident to achieve good results in an environment ideal for cycling.”

Governor Woo Seung-hee stated, “I am pleased to hold a meaningful competition at the F1 International Automobile Race Track in Motorpia Yeongam, the city of speed,” and added, “It was a competition where disabled and non-disabled people united in a safe and excellent venue, and we will continue to hold sports tourism events that highlight Yeongam’s unique characteristics.”
