Rising Singer Jeon Min-jung Launches Daegu Fan Club... 50 Attendees Including Master Chefs, Poets, and Professors
The launch ceremony of the Daegu fan club supporting the rising pop singer Jeon Minjeong (25) was held at the music cafe ‘Seravi’ in Jung-gu, Daegu. About 50 people from various fields attended the launch ceremony held on the 26th, including Jang Untak, a master chef and president of the Daegu branch of the fan club, singer Jeon Minjeong, Oh Sangtae, an honorary professor of Korean literature at Daegu University, Kim Seon, former dean of the College of Fine Arts at Keimyung University, and poet Oh Gyuchan.
The event, hosted by poet Bae Jeongok, the fan club secretary general, began with a greeting from Jang Untak, president of the Daegu branch of the fan club, and introductions of the guests, followed by congratulatory speeches from cultural planner Shin Wansik, Kwon Ohhyuk, former executive director of the Korea Culture Promotion Agency, and Kim Yongrak, former director of the Korea International Cultural Exchange Promotion Agency.
Singer Jeon Minjeong said, “My strength lies in a powerful vocal range with a solid mid-to-low tone,” adding, “I started singing in the drama club in high school, and after passing the preliminary round of the 2020 Yeongnam Song Festival, I gained confidence and began singing seriously.”
She continued, “My favorite music genres are diverse, including jazz, R&B ballads, rock ballads, and trot. My role model is singer Uhm Jung-hwa. My dream is to become a singer who can bring happiness to the public through my songs, and I want to try singing jazz-style dance songs in the future.”
Jang Untak, president of the Daegu branch of the fan club, said, “I think a newcomer showing the qualities of a major singer has appeared in Daegu after a long time. We will do our best to support Jeon Minjeong so that she can grow into a great singer loved nationwide beyond Daegu.”

Jeon Minjeong was born in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, and grew up in Daegu. She attended Daegu Deokwon High School and Andong National University Graduate School. She has won awards including the Silver Prize at the 2020 Yeongnam Song Festival, the Singing Award at the Nakdong Song Festival, the Gold Prize at the Suwon Song Festival, the Grand Prize at the Ansan Nojeokbong Song Festival, and the Encouragement Award at the Ansan episode of the National Singing Contest. She also ranked 13th out of 1,056 contestants on TV Chosun’s Show Queen.
