Seoul City Provides 1 Million Won Postpartum Care Expense Voucher to All Mothers
The highest postpartum care center usage fee in Korea was found to be 38 million KRW for two weeks. This amounts to about 2.7 million KRW per day.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "2023 First Half Postpartum Care Center Status" data on the 27th, as of the end of June, there were a total of 469 postpartum care centers nationwide.
This is a decrease of 6 centers from 475 at the end of last year.
Among them, Seoul has 114 centers. The average fee for a standard room in Seoul was 4,212,807 KRW (based on two weeks). The "special room" was 1.5 times higher at 6.38 million KRW. The cheapest standard room fee was 2.09 million KRW.
Among the top 5 most expensive postpartum care centers, 4 were located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The remaining one was located in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The two-week price for a special room is around 20 million KRW.
The cheapest standard room fee was at the only public postpartum care center in Seoul, located in Songpa-gu, at 2.09 million KRW (based on two weeks).
Expanding the scope nationwide, the cheapest postpartum care center is located in Cheongju, Chungbuk, where the standard room fee is 1.3 million KRW for two weeks, and the special room is 1.6 million KRW. The price difference between this standard room and the highest-priced special room in the country exceeds 29 times.
Meanwhile, starting next month, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will provide 1 million KRW in postpartum care expenses to all new mothers. The postpartum care expenses will be provided in the form of vouchers without income criteria.
