Jo O-seop "Forced Appointment of Lee Dong-gwan, Declaration of Destruction of Press Freedom and Democracy"
Despite the failure to adopt the confirmation report, President Yoon Suk-yeol approved the appointment of Lee Dong-gwan as Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission on the 25th, drawing criticism from Cho Oh-seop, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who called it a "declaration of the destruction of press freedom and democracy."
On the same day, Cho said on his social media (SNS), "Having witnessed President Yoon's single-minded governance that pushes forward unilaterally regardless of the opposition from the people and the National Assembly countless times, it is no longer surprising."
He raised his voice, saying, "This is the 16th appointment without the consent of the National Assembly in just 1 year and 3 months since the government was launched, effectively nullifying the National Assembly's personnel verification function. Chairman Lee is a problematic figure embroiled in various suspicions, including covering up school violence, media control, and his wife's solicitation."
