Earlier, GoPizza established the 'Paveik Dough Production Center' in Indonesia last May, and this Indonesian dough production factory received certification as a 'Halal Food Production Factory' through MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council), which is internationally recognized.
According to GoPizza, Halal food refers to food that Muslims can consume according to Islamic law, and Muslim customers only consume Halal-branded products. Therefore, obtaining Halal certification is a business-critical matter that can create new demand from Muslim customers, who account for nearly 40% of the Southeast Asian population. However, to obtain Halal certification for a brand, it is challenging to meet numerous strict conditions, including the production, processing, and packaging of all ingredients and materials handled, strict separation from prohibited foods during distribution, animal slaughter methods, and compliance with specific standards, making the certification process highly difficult.

Im Jae-won, CEO of GoPizza, said, “There are over 200 million Muslims in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, which is a major market for GoPizza, so obtaining Halal certification was an important task to satisfy customers and expand global sales. We plan to export Halal-certified dough produced at the Indonesian factory not only to Indonesia but also to countries where Halal food is highly important, such as Singapore and Malaysia, and through this, we will further accelerate our overseas expansion.”
