Former District Office Public Employee Arrested for Accepting Money as a Recruitment Broker
An environmental sanitation worker employed by Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, was arrested by the police for accepting bribes worth approximately 50 million won under the pretext of job placement.
On the 24th, the Gwangju Western Police Station arrested A (57), a sanitation worker at Nam-gu Office, on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
A is suspected of receiving 50 million won from an acquaintance in February, promising to arrange a job for the acquaintance's child.
Investigations revealed that A handed over 45 million won of the 50 million won to B, the chairman of the Western District Office's public workers' union. B was also booked last month on the same charges.
After the police investigation began, A submitted a resignation letter on the 1st citing personal reasons.

Additionally, while forensically examining A's mobile phone, the police discovered a photo of a third party's exam admission ticket and are investigating further offenses.
