Digital design company District won the Silver Award at the 2023 IDEA for ‘OCEAN: Geobukseon and the Turbulent Waves,’ presented at the War Memorial to commemorate the 430th anniversary of the Imjin War. IDEA (International Design Excellence Award) is an international design award organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980. Along with the iF Design Award and Red Dot Design Award, it is considered one of the world's top three design awards. This year, District received main awards for all seven entries at the iF Design Award, followed by a total of five main awards at the Red Dot Award, and a Silver Award at IDEA. They received awards from all three of the world’s top design awards.
‘OCEAN: Geobukseon and the Turbulent Waves’ is a work created by District and the War Memorial to commemorate the 430th anniversary of the Imjin War. District produced and installed media art depicting turbulent waves behind the Geobukseon located inside the War Memorial, recreating the arduous seven-year Imjin War. ‘OCEAN: Geobukseon and the Turbulent Waves’ not only won the main award at the 2023 IDEA but also received main awards at the iF Design Award 2023 and Red Dot Award 2023, achieving a triple crown in design awards.
