District Mayor Jeon Seong-su: “Enhancing Staff Accounting Competency to Improve Efficiency and Transparency of Local Finances”
Seocho-gu (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will conduct the ‘2023 Nado Jichul Baksa Accounting Competency Enhancement Training,’ an accounting practical training, for 400 accounting practitioners starting from the 25th.
The district has prepared this training to improve employees’ expertise in accounting tasks and to ensure honest and transparent budget execution.
The ‘NajiBak Accounting Competency Enhancement Training’ differs from other group trainings by providing specialized education divided by timing and field for detailed accounting tasks such as settlement, supplies, contracts, and financial statements.
The training consists of 10 sessions across 7 fields at different levels: basic, general, and specialized. The instructors are employees with long experience in finance and accounting departments, sharing theoretical education along with practical exercises on accounting systems and introducing common accounting mistakes.
First, on the 25th, the district will conduct the ‘Accounting Beginner Escape Training (Basic Accounting).’ This beginner course is designed for new and transferred employees who are encountering accounting tasks for the first time and covers ▲understanding accounting terminology ▲how to use the newly introduced next-generation e-Hojo system ▲and revised accounting regulations.
Following this, for project managers and interested employees, the courses will continue with ▲‘Contract Beginner Master Training (Contract Practice)’ in September to learn contract-related regulations ▲‘Double-entry Practical Training (Double-entry Bookkeeping, Financial Statements)’ in October with professional instructors to master the principles of double-entry bookkeeping ▲and ‘Finalizer Closing Training (Settlement)’ in November to prepare for subsidy settlement.
Additionally, the district has diversified support spaces such as real-time online accounting consultations. In particular, separate accounting and contract sites have been established on the online Accounting Talk and the internal network (Saeol Administrative System). Related information is shared in real time, and Q&A is posted to speed up civil service processing. Also, an ‘Accounting Handbook’ has been separately produced and distributed for employees to conveniently reference when needed.
Going forward, the district plans to conduct necessary training throughout the year, from year-beginning and year-end tax adjustments to seamless handling of tasks such as personnel expenses and daily expenses. By providing practical tips that can be immediately applied, it aims to boost the confidence and proficiency of the responsible staff in their work.
