Secured 100 Million KRW in City Funds, Installed Seven Pipe-Type and Pole-Type Cooling Fog Units
Helps Relieve Heat by Lowering Surrounding Temperature by About 3 to 5 Degrees Celsius
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced that it has completed the installation of cooling fog systems at Cheonwangsan Family Camping Site, a popular urban retreat, and officially started operation on the 21st.
The cooling fog, a representative heat reduction facility, sprays tap water at high pressure in droplets about one ten-millionth the size of a raindrop, lowering the surrounding temperature by approximately 3 to 5 degrees Celsius to help alleviate the heat.
Earlier, in June, Guro-gu was selected as a target site for Seoul City's 'Heat Reduction Facility Installation Support Project,' securing a budget of 100 million KRW for the installation of cooling fog systems.
The cooling fog units were installed above the office and convenience store, as well as in some sections of the auto deck within the Cheonwangsan Family Camping Site.
Pipe-type cooling fogs, which spray water like mist through nozzles installed along a 95-meter pipe, were installed above the office and convenience store, while pole-type cooling fogs were installed in certain sections of the auto deck to create a comfortable walking environment.
Following the weather forecast predicting continued heat, the district plans to operate the cooling fog until the end of September. However, the system will automatically stop operating if the temperature falls below 27 degrees Celsius.
The operating hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A Guro-gu official said, “With the installation of cooling fog, Cheonwangsan Family Camping Site has become a more comfortable leisure space,” adding, “We will continue to carefully monitor to ensure there are no inconveniences for users.”
