Gwangju Seo-gu, Urban Park Water Playground 'Popular'... 3,000 Visitors
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) operated free water play areas for children at Sangmu Citizen's Park and Ssanghak Children's Park this summer, gaining great popularity as an "oasis space in the city."
According to Seo-gu on the 23rd, the water play areas were visited by about 3,000 children and guardians over 24 days from the 28th of last month to the 20th, with an average of 100 visitors per day seeking relief from the heat.
Seo-gu provided convenience facilities such as shade tents, Mongolian tents, and parasols at the water play areas, and operated water mist sprayers and play equipment sprayers to help users cool down.
In addition, a 10-minute break was scheduled every hour, and safety management personnel were assigned to each park to ensure a safe environment.
Citizens who visited the water play areas with their children said, "Every summer, we had to struggle visiting large water parks or swimming pools in other regions, but this year, we were able to enjoy water play comfortably right in front of our home, creating happy memories with our children."
Yang Dongsik, Director of the Parks and Greenery Division, said, "Although there were more users than last year, thanks to the active cooperation of residents, the water play areas were operated without any accidents. We will provide better services next year so that the park water play areas can become representative rest spaces of Seo-gu."
