Fire at Korea Zinc in Onsan Industrial Complex, Ulsan... Extinguishing Efforts Underway
A fire broke out at around 9:05 a.m. on the 23rd at the Korea Zinc ESS Center Plant 1 in Daejeong-ri, Onsan-eup, Ulsan City.
According to the Ulsan Fire Headquarters, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and 23 pieces of equipment including pump trucks, aerial ladder trucks, and special chemical rescue vehicles, along with more than 50 personnel, have been deployed to extinguish the fire.

The plant is equipped with an active agent fire suppression system that suppresses fires through chemical reactions rather than sprinkler systems, and no casualties have been confirmed so far.
An official from the Ulsan Fire Headquarters stated, “The fire is currently being extinguished, and 16 out of 25 active agent systems have operated,” adding, “After the fire is extinguished, we will investigate whether there are any casualties and determine the exact cause of the fire.”
