President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 22nd nominated Moon Beom-gyu, the current Minister for Government Policy Coordination, as the new Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy. Bang Ki-sun, the current 1st Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, was appointed as the new Minister for Government Policy Coordination.
Kim Dae-gi, the Chief Presidential Secretary, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon to announce these appointments. Kim said, "Candidate Moon Beom-gyu, who passed the 28th Administrative Examination, is a seasoned economic official who has served as the 2nd Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, and President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea. Based on his broad understanding of overall state affairs and excellent coordination skills, he is deemed the right person to effectively promote key national tasks in the field of trade, industry, and energy, such as fostering core strategic industries, regulatory innovation, and export promotion."
Regarding Bang Ki-sun, who was appointed as the next Minister for Government Policy Coordination, Kim evaluated, "He passed the 34th Administrative Examination and is a seasoned economic official who has served as the Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance and as a director at the Asian Development Bank. With his rich experience in policy coordination, he is expected to rationally coordinate current national issues and swiftly advance major national tasks."
