"'School Violence Exposure' Baek Ganghyun Withdraws Withdrawal... Returning to School from Thursday, 24th"
Baekgun Father "Received Formal Apologies from Perpetrators"
"Decided to Forgive... Will Not Make It an Issue"
Baek Gang-hyun, who entered Seoul Science High School at the age of 9 but had planned to withdraw after one semester, has reportedly withdrawn his intention to drop out. Baek is scheduled to return to school starting on the 24th.
According to a report by 'Channel A' on the 22nd, a Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education official told the media, "We understand that Baek has withdrawn his intention to drop out and will be returning to school." It is also known that the withdrawal letter submitted by Baek's side has not yet been accepted by Seoul Science High School.
After Baek's side raised allegations of school violence, the education office conducted an internal investigation targeting the school but did not find any concrete evidence.
Earlier, on the 18th, Baek announced his withdrawal from Seoul Science High School through his YouTube channel. At that time, Baek explained his reason for dropping out as wanting to engage in "creative activities," but Baek's father, Mr. Baek, posted another video on the 20th claiming that school violence was behind Baek's decision to withdraw.
At that time, Mr. Baek said, "I tried to bury the series of incidents that happened to Gang-hyun at Seoul Science High School in my heart and take the secret to the grave, but after receiving a humiliating email, I can no longer endure it," adding, "I must reveal the deeper truth behind Gang-hyun's decision to drop out. It concerns the unbearable teasing and inhumane school violence inflicted on young Gang-hyun."
Mr. Baek also added comments to this video explaining specific cases of verbal abuse Baek experienced.
He lamented, "'You being at Seoul Science High School is deceiving the entire nation,' 'When Gang-hyun is in the same group for team projects, it's as if one person is missing,' and he was ignored and given no role, treated like a ghost," adding, "Not talking to Gang-hyun all day, mocking and teasing him, and so on."
On the 21st, he also detailed the experiences Baek went through during his time at Seoul Science High School.
As the bullying by students continued, Mr. Baek requested the convening of a school violence committee and held related meetings with teachers. The school persuaded Mr. Baek by saying it would be better not to report to the police cyber investigation unit for Baek's academic sake and promised, "We will devise special measures for future group projects." Ultimately, the school violence committee was dissolved.

Mr. Baek asked Baek's homeroom teacher, "Gang-hyun lacks confidence in participating in the team's project preparations; is there a way for him to present alone?" but the homeroom teacher responded, "We cannot change the school system for just one student, Gang-hyun," rejecting the request.
However, Mr. Baek said he would not hold the perpetrators accountable. He stated, "I received a formal apology from the perpetrator yesterday and decided to forgive him," adding, "I will not raise any issues against the student."
