Gwangju Seo-gu Holds 2nd Meeting of the Sustainable Development Committee

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 22nd that it held the 2nd meeting of the Sustainable Development Committee at the Seo-gu Office Nanum Hall.

On this day, the committee deliberated and approved the draft of the sustainable development report, the first of its kind in Gwangju.

Since March, Seo-gu has formed a public-private collaboration TF team and prepared the final report through ▲ diagnosis and trend analysis of 77 sustainable development indicators across 32 departments ▲ evaluation of achievement levels by indicator ▲ collection of basic data ▲ conducting a sustainable development awareness survey ▲ gathering departmental opinions on expert indicator evaluations, covering 109 detailed implementation projects of the action plan.

Seo-gu plans to use this to diagnose and evaluate the implementation of sustainable development goals for 2021-2022, suggest future development directions, and set policy promotion directions.

At the meeting, the heads of the economic, social, and environmental subcommittees were also appointed, and a subcommittee was formed ahead of the implementation of the pre-review system for sustainability regarding Seo-gu’s major mid- to long-term administrative plans.

This year’s administrative plan subject to pre-review is the “Carbon Neutral Green Growth Basic Plan,” which is scheduled to be conducted at the end of the year.

Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, “We will produce the Seo-gu sustainable development report as a voluntary urban report and post it on the UN Sustainable Development Goals knowledge platform to share it with countries and cities worldwide and promote Seo-gu’s sustainability.”
