Gwangju Police Agency Conducts Regular Shooting Training... "Response to Abnormal Motivation Crimes"
Recently, public anxiety has reached its peak due to abnormal motive crimes such as the sexual assault and murder case in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
To actively respond to such violent crimes, the Gwangju Police have been strengthening physical force response training.
On the 22nd, the Gwangju Police Agency announced that it is conducting the nation's first regular shooting training.
This is separate from the regular shooting training held four times a year for on-site police officers at district police stations and patrol offices.
The regular shooting training is operated through 'Regular Simulation Shooting,' an unmanned system that can be used alone, and 'Regular Live Ammunition Shooting Day,' held every Tuesday.
The number of live ammunition shooting training sessions has also been greatly expanded, with 1,617 on-site police officers trained over 36 sessions from February last year to the present.
In addition, customized physical force response training such as electronic shock devices (Taser guns) and knife defense training to subdue criminals armed with weapons is being steadily conducted.
On June 13, a model case emerged where a Taser gun was used to subdue a mentally ill person wielding a kitchen knife and causing a disturbance in an apartment in Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
