On the first day of the Eulji Exercise, the 21st, Governor Kim spoke at the '2023 Eulji Exercise Initial Situation Report Meeting' held at the comprehensive exhibition situation room of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, saying, "Considering recent various incidents, I ask you to approach the training with a mindset as if it were an actual situation," and emphasized, "Under strong security, Gyeonggi Province can pursue greater peace."
He continued, "If security is interpreted narrowly, it means protecting sovereignty from external or foreign invasions, but in a broader sense, it can be expanded to ensuring the safety of residents and guaranteeing the peaceful lives of the people," adding, "Residents are exposed to various unpredictable threats such as climate disasters, pandemics, social disasters, and indiscriminate crimes. I hope the Eulji Exercise will serve as an opportunity to strengthen crisis response in daily life."
The Eulji Exercise is a nationwide crisis management emergency preparedness training conducted at the whole-of-government level to enhance wartime mission performance capabilities, aiming to protect the lives and property of citizens in the event of national emergencies such as war or terrorism.
This year’s Eulji Exercise is being conducted from the 21st to the 24th, reflecting various threats including North Korean nuclear threats, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) attacks, drones, and missile attacks.
