KT Alpha Launches FAST Channel on Samsung TV Plus... Offering Themed Movies and More
Launch of Ad-Supported Free Streaming TV Channel

Expansion to Global Major Platforms Within the Year
Digital content distributor KT Alpha announced on the 21st that it has launched a FAST channel on Samsung Smart TV’s channel-based video service, ‘Samsung TV Plus,’ where popular movies can be watched for free. FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) channels are ad-supported free streaming TV services. They are TV channels that allow viewers to watch real-time content tailored to genres and preferences without any separate sign-up or subscription fees.
Following the launch of ‘PLAYY Chinese Drama’ on LG Channels last February, KT Alpha has further solidified its position as a FAST channel operator by launching FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus. Samsung and LG’s global TV market share approaches 49.2% as of the first quarter of this year. Samsung TV Plus operates over 100 free channels including real-time news, dramas, variety shows, and movies. Samsung TV Plus can be watched for free not only on Samsung Smart TVs but also on various devices such as smart monitors, Galaxy phones/tablets, and Family Hub.
KT Alpha launched two channels on Samsung TV Plus. The ‘PLAYY Movies’ channel (channel number 521), where viewers can watch a variety of movies regardless of genre, and the monthly themed movie channel (channel number 525). On the monthly themed movie channel, viewers can enjoy curated content according to the theme of each month, such as ‘PLAYY Summer Horror Special’ in August and ‘PLAYY Hangawi Special’ for the Chuseok holiday in September.
Meanwhile, KT Alpha is also targeting overseas markets by launching ‘K-POPCORN’ on global FAST platforms. In the first half of this year, KT Alpha launched the K-POPCORN channel on three platforms including the North American FAST platform ‘Rewarded.TV,’ and plans to expand its service to major global FAST platforms within the year. KT Alpha’s K-POPCORN channel offers selected K-content that captivates global viewers, such as idol performances.
