Jangseong-gun Completes Autumn Flower Planting Along Hwangryonggang River... Autumn Flower Festival Preparations Progressing Smoothly
Jangseong Hwangryonggang, famous for its beautiful seasonal flowers blooming along the riverside, is bustling with preparations for the autumn flower festival. Recently, Jangseong-gun completed the autumn flower seeding work on a 91,800㎡ area along Hwangryonggang and the lower reaches of Jangseongho.
This year’s Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival is scheduled to be held for nine days from October 7 to 15.
Jangseong-gun began sowing flower seeds in July, three months ahead of the festival, and finished the work earlier this month. In addition to the usual stars of the autumn flower festival such as zinnias, globe amaranths, cosmos, and sunflowers, this year they planted purple Lythrum virgatum and cockscomb celosia.
Lythrum virgatum is a charming flower with tiny blossoms clustered closely together like fingernails.
Cockscomb celosia has a unique shape reminiscent of a burning candle flame. When they form a colony, it creates a spectacular sight.
According to the county, near the Second Hwangryong Bridge where the flower path begins, cosmos and pink globe amaranths, representing autumn flowers, will bloom abundantly to welcome visitors.
Near Yongjak Bridge, Lythrum virgatum and three colors of globe amaranths?red, yellow, and white?will provide a visual treat.
The area toward Munhwa Bridge is expected to showcase a golden wave spectacle with yellow cosmos.
Near the old public stadium, where various experience programs and the main festival stage are set up, the ‘Autumn Flower Field Photo Zone’ featuring Jangseong’s autumn flower story will catch the eye.
In full progress are the creation of the ‘Welcome Flower Field’ marking the start of the flower festival, the ‘Stroll Flower Field’ decorating the riverside, the ‘Jangseong Flower Field’ capturing the autumn of Jangseong, the ‘Rest Flower Field’ offering relaxation, and the ‘Sunflower Flower Field’ that will leave wonderful memories.
Passing Jang-an Bridge toward Hwangmir Land, red globe amaranths and cockscomb celosias display their brilliance. Near the lotus garden, purple globe amaranths and yellow cosmos bloom abundantly.
Additionally, in the 1.3 km section below Jangseong Dam, zinnias, globe amaranths, and cosmos have been sown, delivering pleasant autumn news to visitors walking along the Jangseongho waterfront trail.
Meanwhile, on the early morning of the 18th, a planting event was held at the ‘Sunflower Flower Field,’ one of the autumn flower field photo zones, attracting attention. About 70,000 sunflowers were planted under the Healing Herb Garden across Healing Bridge, with the support of around 50 members from the Jangseong-gun Life Improvement Association and the 4-H Federation.
Kim Han-jong, Jangseong County Governor, who participated in the sunflower planting event, said, “We will work hard to ensure that the ‘Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival,’ beautifully decorated with one billion autumn flowers, offers visitors inspiration and relaxation.”
The autumn flowers along Hwangryonggang, after the planting work, are expected to begin blooming around late September and reach their full bloom during the festival period from early to mid-October.
