Gangbuk-gu Provides Emergency Support of 100,000 Won Each for Small Business Owners' Cooling Costs
“Boss, stay strong”... Gangbuk-gu urgently supports cooling expenses for small business owners
Applications open from the 21st, 100,000 KRW each for over 5,000 businesses... easing energy cost burdens for small business owners
Seoul’s Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) is urgently providing special cooling expense support to ease the energy cost burden on small business owners and help them through management difficulties.
The special cooling expenses will be paid at 100,000 KRW each to over 5,000 small business establishments. This support was prepared independently by Gangbuk-gu in response to increased energy costs caused by electricity and gas rate hikes in the first half of this year and the heatwave this summer, which have made it difficult for small business owners to operate their businesses.
The support targets small tenant business owners whose main business registration address is in Gangbuk-gu, with annual sales under 200 million KRW in 2022, and who opened their tenant or storefront businesses before April 1, 2023. However, support is not available for ▲closed or suspended businesses, entertainment facilities ▲industries restricted from loan support ▲professional occupations such as lawyers, accountants, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies ▲nonprofit corporations, schools, religious organizations, and other public facilities.
The application period is from the 21st to September 20. Applications can be submitted online through the district website or in person at the District Office’s Regional Economy Division (1035 Hancheon-ro, Woosung Building, 7th floor).
Required documents include the business registration certificate, lease contract, and value-added tax standard certificate. Detailed information on required documents is provided on the district website (notices and announcements).
The support funds will be paid within 10 business days from the application date after verifying sales and lease contracts. Applications should be submitted promptly as the program may end early if the budget is exhausted.
For inquiries, contact the District Office’s Regional Economy Division.
District Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, “We hope this cooling expense support will provide some relief to small business owners struggling with rising public utility costs and unprecedented heatwaves. We will continue to actively discover and implement policies that revive small businesses and the local economy.”
