Ministry of the Interior and Safety Selects Final 21 Local Governments for 'Gohyang Ollae' Project
Support for Securing Residential Daytime Population
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 20th that it has selected a total of 21 local governments as support targets in the final results of the ‘Gohyang Ollae (GO鄕 ALL來) Project’ contest, which was promoted to secure a stay-type living population and revitalize the local economy.
The Gohyang Ollae project was planned to establish the foundation for revitalizing the local economy by securing a stay-type living population rather than a resident population, reflecting the rapidly changing policy environment such as the risk of local extinction and increased population mobility, and is being implemented for the first time this year.
In this contest project, a judging panel composed of private experts and central government officials conducted practical reviews, document screening, and on-site evaluations for a total of 52 applicants, and finally selected the winners. A total of 20 billion KRW (including local government funds) will be supported.
First, in the ‘Living in Two Regions’ category, which supports residential spaces and experience programs so that people can form relationships with regions for leisure, recreation, and experience purposes and have additional living bases, four places were selected: Chuncheon in Gangwon, Goheung in Jeonnam, Yeongam in Jeonnam, and Sacheon in Gyeongnam. In the ‘Local Study Living Infrastructure Creation’ category, three places were selected: Inje in Gangwon, Gimje in Jeonbuk, and Jinan in Jeonbuk.
In the ‘Retiree Community Village Creation’ category, which supports residential facilities and networking programs to enable mutual exchange through community life in areas other than the registered residence for retirees who are socially prone to isolation, one place was selected: Jeju.
To expand the living population of the youth, in the ‘Youth Complex Space Creation’ category, which simultaneously supports jobs and housing facilities, the biggest difficulties for youth to settle in the region, four places were selected: Jeungpyeong in Chungbuk, Gochang in Jeonbuk, Gwangyang in Jeonnam, and Cheongdo in Gyeongbuk. In the ‘Workation’ category, six places were selected: Haeundae in Busan, Dong-gu in Ulsan, Gapyeong in Gyeonggi, Pyeongchang in Gangwon, Gokseong in Jeonnam, and Suncheon in Jeonnam. In the ‘Autonomous Task’ category, three places were selected: Jeongseon in Gangwon, Cheongyang in Chungnam, and Gumi in Gyeongbuk.
