Gurye County Council Launches On-Site Inspection of Budget and Accounts Special Committee

Review of the Supplementary Budget of 458.6 Billion Won

The Gurye County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Yoo Si-moon) announced that on August 17, it conducted an on-site visit by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee to review the major projects of the 2nd supplementary budget proposal.

The Budget and Accounts Special Committee (Chairman Yang Joon-sik) has been reviewing the 2023 2nd supplementary budget of 458.6 billion KRW, which is an increase of 66.9 billion KRW compared to the existing budget submitted by the executive branch since August 16. Following the review in the meeting room, the committee visited the sites of key projects to directly assess the conditions, listen to the executive branch’s project plans, and exchange in-depth opinions on the feasibility of the projects.

The projects subject to the on-site inspection include the Sansuyu Healing Flower Road construction project, Sansuyu Skywalk installation project, Seomjingang Ecological Forest Path Media Art creation project, and Jirisan Arboretum Jeongsan Lake Park Car Camping Site construction project, totaling four projects with a budget of 12 billion KRW.

The Budget and Accounts Special Committee members agreed on the necessity of establishing tourism infrastructure but decided to continue further review regarding the appropriateness of the project locations, scale, and required budgets.

Yang Joon-sik, Chairman of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, stated, “By conducting on-site inspections for large-scale budget projects, it is expected that budget reviews will be more vivid and better suited to actual conditions than face-to-face document reviews in the meeting room.” He added, “We will conduct thorough reviews to ensure that precious budgets are not wasted.”

The Gurye County Council’s 301st extraordinary session Budget and Accounts Special Committee plans to complete the departmental reviews of the supplementary budget by August 18 and approve it on August 24.
