Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Promotes 'Random Crime Prevention and Victim Support and Protection Ordinance'
The Gyeonggi Provincial Council is pushing for the enactment of an ordinance to prevent random crimes and to protect and support victims.
On the 18th, the Gyeonggi Council announced the legislative notice of the "Gyeonggi-do Ordinance on the Prevention of Random Motive Crimes and Support for Victims," proposed by Assemblyman Lee Gi-in (People Power Party, Seongnam 6).
The ordinance includes provisions for the governor to establish policies for preventing random motive crimes and protecting and supporting victims, as well as conducting surveys for this purpose.
It also mandates the establishment of a system that allows residents to report cases when they discover firearms, knives, explosives, spray devices, electronic shock devices, crossbows, etc., suspected to be related to random motive crimes, or when the execution of such crimes is suspected.
In particular, the ordinance calls for the establishment of a Random Motive Crime Victim One-Stop Support Center to handle victim reception and counseling, legal support, medical expense assistance, follow-up monitoring, and coordination with related organizations.
