Wealthy Police Family, Mother of Two Daughters, Kendo National Representative... 2,278 New Police Graduates
A second-generation wealthy police family, a mother of two daughters, a national kendo representative, and 2,278 new police officers from various backgrounds have graduated.
The National Police Agency held the graduation ceremony for the 312th class of new police officers at 11 a.m. on the 18th at the Central Police Academy in Chungju, Chungbuk.
The ceremony was attended by 2,278 new police officers (1,711 men and 567 women), their families, as well as Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, Kim Ho-cheol, Chairman of the National Police Commission, Jo Gil-hyeong, Mayor of Chungju, and about 6,000 others.
Among the graduates, 1,984 were publicly recruited (including 62 from the 101st Security Unit), and 294 were hired through competitive recruitment in 14 specialized fields such as police administration, cyber investigation, security investigation, disaster accidents, martial arts, and abuse prevention.
Since December last year until this month, they underwent 34 weeks of practical training focused on field cases, including shooting, real-life arrest techniques, emergency vehicle operation, and completed field internships essential for on-site response.
The President's Award, given to the top overall graduate, was awarded to Police Officer Yeoh Jeong-ho (25), the Prime Minister's Award to Police Officer Lee Joo-hyung (28), and the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award to Police Officer Jeong In-seok (35).
Police Officer Jo Yong-su (26), who became a police officer following his father and older brother, expressed his ambition, saying, "Having grown up watching my father and brother, I will continuously strive and work hard, so please watch over me."
Police Officer Jo Hyo-jun (33), who achieved her dream while raising two daughters and preparing for the police exam, said, "After living as a test-taker studying while working to support my two daughters, I have become a police officer of the Republic of Korea. I will not settle for the present but always have the will to learn and protect the daily lives of the people."
Police Officer Lee Hwa-young (29), a former national kendo representative, said, "My life, which had been focused solely on kendo, is now at a turning point and starting anew. Based on the spirit of martial arts and physical strength, I will become a righteous police officer." Officer Lee won the Presidential Sports Medal after finishing second consecutively in the team events at the 16th and 17th World Kendo Championships.
During field training, Police Officer Ra Min-yeop (25) became a topic of discussion after responding to a suspected suicide report, searching, and jumping into a pond to rescue the person in need. Police Officer Kim Jeong-jae (26) also gained attention for subduing a suspect armed with a weapon at a community center.

Commissioner Yoon urged, "At the moment when the people need us, please do your best to protect the peaceful daily lives of the people based on the original intention of not even walking away."
