President Yoon's Father, Late Professor Yoon Ki-jung, Donated to Yonsei University Before Passing
Request for University President to Keep Donation Confidential
It was recently revealed that the late Yoon Ki-jung, honorary professor at Yonsei University and father of President Yoon Suk-yeol, donated funds to his alma mater Yonsei University last May.
According to Yonsei University on the 17th, Professor Yoon Ki-jung attended the Yonsei University Honorary Professors' Day last May and expressed his intention to donate to Yonsei University. At that time, Professor Yoon reportedly asked President Seo Seung-hwan of Yonsei University, "Please do not disclose the donation and use it for the development of Yonsei University."
President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Keon-hee are attending the funeral procession of Yoon Ki-jung, an honorary professor at Yonsei University and the father of the president, held at the funeral hall of Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 17th.

Professor Yoon passed away on the 15th at the age of 92. It is known that he had recently been hospitalized at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, due to worsening chronic illness. After President Yoon attended the Liberation Day celebration held at Ewha Womans University on the 15th, he visited the hospital and was by his father's side at the time of his passing. The late professor reportedly passed away about 20 minutes after President Yoon's arrival.
The funeral parlor was set up at Sinchon Severance Hospital of Yonsei University, where the late professor had worked, and the funeral was held as a private family ceremony for three days.

Professor Yoon was from Gongju, Chungnam, graduated from Gongju Agricultural High School (now Gongju Life Science High School), and earned his master's degree from Yonsei University Graduate School in 1958. He was selected as the first Japanese Ministry of Education government-sponsored scholarship student and studied economics at Hitotsubashi University Graduate School from 1966 to 1968, one year after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan. From 1968, he served as a professor in the Department of Applied Statistics at Yonsei University. He served as president of the Korean Statistical Society in 1976 and president of the Korean Economic Association in 1992. In recognition of his contributions to the field of economics, he became a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology in 2001.
