No Prosecution for Defamation Claim Against Ki Sung-yong by Junior Over Sexual Assault Allegation: "Insufficient Evidence"
Two juniors who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by soccer player Ki Sung-yueng during elementary school were cleared of charges after being sued for defamation.
On the 17th, the Seoul Seocho Police Station announced that on the 10th, they decided not to prosecute two individuals, including Mr. A, who raised sexual assault allegations against Ki Sung-yueng, citing "insufficient evidence."
In February 2021, Mr. A and others claimed that they were sexually assaulted by seniors, including player B, while playing on the soccer team at an elementary school in Jeonnam. Ki Sung-yueng sued Mr. A and others for defamation and filed a lawsuit seeking 500 million won in damages.

In March of last year, the first trial for the damages lawsuit was held at the Seoul Central District Court, but the trial was postponed until the outcome of the criminal case in which Ki Sung-yueng sued Mr. A and others was determined.
