"Mapo Made by My Own Hands"... Resident Participatory Budget Project Contest
Anyone who is a resident of Mapo-gu, or a worker, student, or organization located in Mapo-gu can participate.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "The Resident Participatory Budget System is a communication channel with residents toward a better Mapo."
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) announced that it is accepting applications for projects to be implemented through the 2024 Mapo-gu Resident Participatory Budget until the 31st of this month.
The Resident Participatory Budget System is a system where residents directly participate not only in proposing projects but also in reviewing, selecting, and operating them to enhance transparency in financial management and fairness in resource allocation.
Anyone who is a resident of Mapo-gu, or a worker, student, or organization located in Mapo-gu can participate. The proposal fields are categorized as ▲ life-oriented projects that resolve residents' inconveniences and improve benefits ▲ welfare enhancement projects that consider socially vulnerable groups, youth, and young adults ▲ small-scale daily safety projects for residents’ safety, and the projects must be completable within 2024.
Applications can be submitted online through the Mapo-gu website (Open Administration - Open Finance - Resident Budget Participation Room - Submission Window - Propose a Resident Project) or by filling out an application form and visiting or mailing it to the Digital Finance Division on the 7th floor of Mapo-gu Office.
Submitted projects will be reviewed by the relevant departments, then selected through evaluation by sectoral committees, resident voting, and deliberation by the Resident Participatory Budget Committee, followed by approval from the Mapo-gu Council. Once finalized, the relevant departments will implement the projects in 2024.
The district has expanded the 2024 Resident Participatory Budget to around 1.5 billion KRW and improved the system to ensure that projects truly needed by residents can be executed.
First, the budget is allocated after selecting projects to ensure that the projects meet their intended purposes and proceed smoothly, and resident voting has been newly introduced to empower residents.
Additionally, to make it more convenient and easier for residents to propose projects and track their progress, the “Resident Participatory Budget System for Residents” will be operated, aiming to realize a higher level of communication administration.
