Lotte Department Store Expands Art Content... Empathy and Support This Fall
Season VM Change... "To Us, the Ordinary"
Expressing Beauty in Everyday Life
Conveying Empathy and Support to Customers Through Artwork
Lotte Department Store captures the beauty of everyday life in its seasonal VM (Visual Merchandising) art installations. Through this, it aims to convey gentle encouragement and empathy to customers.
On the 17th, Lotte Department Store announced that from the 18th until November 2nd, it will decorate the interior and exterior of its stores using artworks by three artists expressing the beauty of everyday life under the autumn theme "To Ordinary Us."
Lotte Department Store chose "To Ordinary Us" as a common theme to evoke customer empathy. Collaborating with three artists, it created different VMs at each store using distinct artworks. Noting the growing culture of consuming art content and its popularization, the plan was designed to allow customers to experience works by various artists.
Fourteen stores, including the Main Store, Jamsil Store, Daegu Store, and Gwangju Store, will be decorated with works by American artist Andy Rementer, who uses everyday life and still life as subjects to express simple yet vivid colors. His artworks, depicting ordinary people who seem like they could be around us in the city, adorn various parts of the stores with his unique style. Ten stores, including the Busan Main Store, Incheon Store, and Yeongdeungpo Store, will feature works by ABANG, focusing on the confidence of people living true to themselves and expressing everyday life in a romantic and witty way. Another ten stores, including Dongtan Store, Cheongnyangni Store, and Daejeon Store, will showcase works created in collaboration with CCARMIN, a YouTuber with 340,000 subscribers and a well-known influencer artist.
Exhibitions of each artist’s works will also be held. From the 18th to October 1st, Andy Rementer’s solo exhibition "This is Andy Rementer" will take place on the 2nd floor of Next Museum at Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, with Andy Rementer attending the opening on the 18th. The exhibition, mainly featuring new works using oil paint and colored pencils, is presented in three sections under the theme "Happiness in Everyday Life." Visitors can see over 180 artworks including paintings, sculptures, and prints that highlight Andy Rementer’s signature sulky expressions and vivid primary colors. ABANG’s exhibition will be held from September 7th to 27th at the 9th-floor L Arena Plaza of Lotte Department Store Busan Main Store, and CCARMIN’s exhibition will run from September 6th to October 9th at the 1st-floor gallery of Lotte Department Store Dongtan Store.
Various events using art content will also be offered. From the 18th to September 30th, customers who make purchases at all Lotte Department Store locations can enter a raffle to win original artworks by the artists. Entries can be submitted via the Lotte Department Store app, and winners will be drawn as follows: 1st prize (1 person) receives Andy Rementer’s "Hide and Seek (2023, Oil on linen)," 2nd prize (1 person) receives CCARMIN’s "Sunset Waltz (2023, Oil on Canvas)," and 3rd prize (1 person) receives ABANG’s "Escape of the Body-12 (2023, Oil on linen)." Additionally, 9,999 NFTs of Andy Rementer’s works will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis through the Lotte Department Store app. Customers purchasing Chuseok gift sets at each store will also receive thank-you cards featuring the artists’ works.
