"Not Bruce Lee... You Can't Beat Me" Musk Provokes Zuckerberg
"Decide the Date Quickly," Zuckerberg Urged and Received Response
"If He Were the Bruce Lee of Today, He Might Beat Me"
The so-called 'duel of the century' has sparked a war of words between Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. Amid this, Musk provoked Zuckerberg by mentioning the legendary action star and martial artist Bruce Lee.
Foreign media including the U.S. Business Insider reported on the 14th (local time) the text messages Musk posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account with Zuckerberg. According to the messages, Musk said, "I was a bit lacking in martial arts training," and suggested to Zuckerberg, "How about a practice match instead of a real fight?"
In response, Zuckerberg snapped back, "I hate it when people keep blowing up things that won't happen, so stop dragging it out and quickly decide whether to fight or not."
Later, Zuckerberg posted on his thread, "Musk is not serious about the duel," and added, "Everyone will agree that it's time to move on to the next step (cancelling the duel)." He pointed out that although he first proposed the 26th as the duel date, Musk has not confirmed the date citing injuries and other reasons.
Then Musk sent a message to Zuckerberg saying, "I will be in Palo Alto (where Zuckerberg lives) on Monday," and added, "Let's fight in your octagon."
The octagon is the eight-sided ring used by UFC, the world's largest mixed martial arts organization. Earlier this month, Zuckerberg posted on his thread that "I installed an octagon in my backyard, but my wife didn't like it." Musk seemed to be referring to this.
Following this, Musk provoked, "Considering our weight class difference, if you are the modern-day Bruce Lee, you might be able to fight me and win," adding, "Of course, that possibility is very slim." Incidentally, this year marks the 50th anniversary of Bruce Lee's untimely death in 1973.

View original imagePreviously, opinions were dominant that if Musk and Zuckerberg actually fought, Musk would have the advantage in weight class, while Zuckerberg would have the edge in technique. Zuckerberg has a history of winning a jiu-jitsu competition, and Musk, standing 188 cm tall and weighing over 100 kg, is much bigger and heavier than the 171 cm Zuckerberg. However, some speculate that 39-year-old Zuckerberg might have a physical stamina advantage over 51-year-old Musk.
In this regard, Kim Dae-hwan, a mixed martial artist and commentator and former CEO of Road FC, said, "Zuckerberg may surpass Musk technically, but it will be difficult to overcome the weight class difference," giving the edge to Musk.
Musk and Zuckerberg have been exchanging online barbs about an actual fight since June. It is also known that behind-the-scenes negotiations to arrange a real fight between the two were underway, facilitated by UFC President Dana White.
