Korean Prime Minister: "Liberation Day Pardon Means Promoting Economic Vitality... Will Reflect on Jamboree"
For the Recovery of People's Livelihood Economy, Actively Pardon Businesspeople and Small Business Owners Eligible for Amnesty
Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated on the 14th regarding President Yoon Suk-yeol's special pardon for Liberation Day, “The purpose is to revitalize our economy amid difficult domestic and international conditions and to promote the recovery of ordinary citizens and the vulnerable in our society.”
In his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting held at the Government Seoul Office that morning, Prime Minister Han said, “We listened carefully to various voices from all sectors and strictly and prudently decided on the subjects and scope of the pardon.”

View original imagePrime Minister Han explained, “Through the administrative sanction reduction measures for over 800,000 people, we aimed to provide opportunities and hope for normal livelihood activities to ordinary citizens facing difficulties in making a living.”
He continued, “To aid economic recovery, businesspeople were included among the pardon recipients,” and added, “In particular, small and medium-sized business owners and small merchants were actively included to support the recovery of the people’s economy.” Prime Minister Han added, “I hope this special pardon will be an opportunity for all citizens to unite their strength and for our economy to take off again.” President Yoon Suk-yeol is expected to immediately approve the pardon once the agenda is passed at the Cabinet meeting that day.
Regarding the World Scout Jamboree, which concluded last weekend, Prime Minister Han said, “Initially, it was a Jamboree of unprecedented challenges and responses, conducted while moving to the campsite due to heavy rain and heatwaves in the early stages and a typhoon in the latter half.”
