Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk is recruiting qualified companies to supply fruit snacks to elementary after-school care classrooms, kindergartens, and daycare centers in the region from September to December.
The city announced on the 14th that the fruit snack initiative aims to improve children's eating habits and health, promote fruit consumption, and secure sales channels and increase income for local farmers.
Eligibility requires that, as of the announcement date of August 10, the business location must be in Jeongeup City, and the company must be able to stably supply Jeongeup-grown fruits (prioritizing eco-friendly and GAP-certified fruits).
Additionally, the company must have delivery qualifications such as permits or business registration certificates according to relevant laws and regulations, and meet the qualification conditions set by Jeongeup City.
Companies wishing to participate as fruit snack suppliers must visit the Local Food Team at the Agricultural and Fisheries Distribution Division of the Jeongeup Agricultural Technology Center in person and submit the application form and required documents by the 24th.
The city plans to conduct document screening and on-site evaluations to select the final qualified companies.
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “We initiated the fruit snack support to address the difficulties faced by farmers struggling to expand sales channels and to ensure the health of children who will lead Jeongeup’s future.”
He added, “We will strive to improve student nutrition and increase farmers’ income by supporting delicious and high-quality Jeongeup-grown fruits.”
