Seoul City Hosts the '4th Seoul Urban Architecture Biennale Opening Forum'
Future Blueprint of High-Density City Seoul
A forum will be held to discuss the direction between the increased urban density and publicness of downtown Seoul due to rapid development and growth, and to draw a future blueprint for the 'high-density city Seoul.'
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 14th that it will hold the opening forum of the '4th Seoul Urban Architecture Biennale (hereinafter Seoul Biennale)' at the Seoul City Hall Multipurpose Hall for two days from the 2nd to the 3rd of next month.
This forum, under the theme of ‘Public Strategies for High-Density Multi-Layered Cities,’ will provide an opportunity to explore land utilization methods focusing on various global urban strategies regarding urban density and publicness, as well as the resilience of the natural environment, together with 18 domestic and international urban architects.
The forum will be conducted in three sessions: ▲The City of Land, Coexistence of Density and Publicness ▲Architecture of Land, Creating Urban Vitality ▲Concept and Change of Land. Presenters include James von Klemperer, CEO of KPF; Kiyoyoshi Okumori and Wataru Tanaka of Nikken Sekkei; Yeron Dirks, partner at KCAP; Sungjin Min, CEO of SKM Architects; Robert Greenwood, partner at Snøhetta; Dominique Perrault, CEO of Dominique Perrault Architecture; and Minseok Jo, CEO of Mass Studies. Kang Byung-geun, the Seoul City Chief Architect and Chair of the Steering Committee, Jo Byung-soo, the General Director, and Yeom Sang-hoon, the Guest City Exhibition curator, will chair each session and lead discussions.
Citizens wishing to attend the forum can participate by pre-registering on the Seoul Public Service Reservation website or by on-site registration. The forum will also be broadcast live on the official Seoul City YouTube channel and the Seoul Biennale official YouTube channel.
