Two Dead in Water Recreation Accident off Pohang Chilpo Beach
At around 12:46 PM on the 13th, an accident occurred in the waters off Chilpo Beach in Heunghae-eup, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk, where two men in their 50s drowned.
The Pohang Coast Guard received a report that "two men were struggling while playing in the water" and deployed patrol boats and helicopters to conduct a search. They found the two men consecutively about 10 meters offshore near the estuary of Gokgangcheon at Chilpo Beach and nearby areas.
At the time of discovery, both men were not breathing and unconscious. They were given cardiopulmonary resuscitation and transported to the hospital but died. It was reported that the two men, who were together, were not wearing life jackets when found.

Additionally, at around 1:56 PM on the same day, two people not wearing life jackets were rescued after drifting while snorkeling in the waters off Janggil-ri Fishing Park in Guryongpo-eup, Nam-gu, Pohang-si. One of them showed no health issues, but the other experienced dizziness and vomiting symptoms.
