Up to 4.5 billion KRW in project funding to be supported by Seoul City over three years starting in 2024
Plans to operate youth startup support and local commercial district innovation programs
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) was finally selected on the 7th for the ‘2024 Seoul Campus Town’ project, which it applied for jointly with Sookmyung Women’s University. Accordingly, it will receive up to 4.5 billion KRW in project funding from Seoul City over three years.
The ‘Seoul Campus Town Project’ is a program where autonomous districts and universities collaborate to discover and nurture early-stage youth startups and revitalize local commercial districts.
In this competition, Yongsan-gu and Sookmyung Women’s University’s project titled ‘Youth Startup Development Based on Value and Locality, SM Entrepreneurship’ was selected, and from 2024, various startup support programs and local commercial district innovation programs will be operated. The district plans to proceed with the project by adding a new direction focusing on the characteristics of locality, value, and women entrepreneurship in Yongsan-gu.
Additionally, in connection with major food companies and IT firms, they plan to focus support on specialized programs in the ‘Smart Food Tech’ field, including ▲food production and distribution ▲food consumption artificial intelligence (AI) ▲alternative foods ▲order kiosks ▲serving and cooking robots.
Previously, the district was selected for the unit-type project from 2017 to 2019 and the comprehensive third-phase project from 2020 to 2023, leading efforts to promote youth startups and revitalize local commercial districts. Through tailored support for each startup stage, from prospective entrepreneurs to early-stage startups and growth companies, they have nurtured 121 startup teams so far.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We support the innovative entrepreneurial spirit of young people for revitalizing the local economy,” and added, “We will actively collaborate with Sookmyung Women’s University so that young entrepreneurs and local commercial districts can create synergistic effects.”

In this Seoul City competition, a total of seven projects were finally selected among autonomous districts and major universities. Accordingly, the district plans to invest more than 800 million KRW additionally over three years in this project, in addition to the 4.5 billion KRW subsidy from Seoul City.
