Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education Suspends Relevant Officer's Position
There has been a claim that the vocabulary used in a letter sent by a Ministry of Education official to their child's homeroom teacher, containing guidelines for instructing their child, primarily uses expressions commonly employed by a private research institute that claims to treat autism and other conditions without medication.
On the 10th, a netizen posted on social networking services (SNS), "The vocabulary is so strange that I searched for 'Wang-ui DNA, Geug-u brain' and found the source to be this kind of cafe," identifying the online cafe as a "pseudo-scientific Anaki cafe that claims to treat autism, language disorders, and learning disabilities without medication." 'Anaki' is an abbreviation for 'raising children without medicine,' a cafe established in 2013 by a Korean medicine doctor named Kim. At one point, Anaki had up to 60,000 members and advocated natural healing, rejecting vaccinations and attempting to treat illnesses with unverified folk remedies, which sparked significant social controversy and eventually led to its closure. Subsequently, the founder Kim was convicted of violating the Food Sanitation Act and the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, and his Korean medicine license was revoked.

The cafe identified as the "pseudo-scientific Anaki" is described as the official cafe of a certain research institute and carries the slogan, "Uniform education kills children, and mimicry education ruins children!" The cafe manager, Mr. A, who has been active since 2011 and is the director of the research institute, claims that children with ADHD have the "Wang-ui DNA" and possess an extremely developed right brain called the "Geug-u brain."
The main focus of counseling at this research institute is so-called "left brain reinforcement." The institute forces children with ADHD and other developmental disorders such as autism to undergo left brain reinforcement. As of 2019, the monthly cost for left brain reinforcement for children with ADHD was reported to be around 1.8 million KRW for preschoolers and about 2.1 million KRW for upper elementary students.
Director A's treatment methods include: ▲ not forcing children to bow their heads deeply when greeting, as it lowers self-esteem and leads to brain function decline ▲ responding playfully without refusing unreasonable demands to activate brain function ▲ treating children like adults to boost their heroism, which quickly stabilizes brain function ▲ not looking down on children to produce beneficial neurotransmitters by making them feel like the "gap" (dominant party) ▲ using titles like prince or princess to confirm their superior status ▲ replacing apologies, which impair brain function, with handshakes or hugs if there is a mistake. The institute reportedly even told parents, "If the first child has the Wang-ui DNA, have a second child to be a subject and toy," and "If you cannot have a second child, at least get a dog."

Mr. B sent a letter containing guidelines for instructing his child to the new homeroom teacher who replaced Mr. C. The letter included nine requests such as "Never use prohibitive words like 'Don't do that' or 'No'," "Thoroughly take the child's side in peer conflicts," and "If you confine the child with the burden of having to greet properly, their self-esteem will be severely damaged," along with "Because the child has the Wang-ui DNA, they understand well even if you speak to them politely as if talking to a prince."
Regarding the research institute being identified as the second "Anaki," a parent whose child is undergoing treatment there expressed frustration. This netizen posted "Our children, who already have no place to stand, are being treated like Anaki," stating, "The director has been sending mission sheets to teachers without filtering for years, and the incident of a teacher being suspended because of this caused an uproar," adding, "No matter how much we say it, it is hard to gain a foothold in this Korean education field that treats our theory as pseudo-science. It feels like a witch hunt, and it is very difficult." They further added, "Isn't that mission sheet sent to the school teacher top secret? I am very curious if that official is the one who reinforced it here."
